Our high performance athletes are elite-level runners who receive complimentary coaching, support, and resources to help them reach their biggest racing goals.
After a successful college career, and a stint on a professional team, Owen realized how little support there is for athletes who compete and train at an elite level while balancing careers. We encourage our runners to reflect on their running experience and create personal, meaningful goals outside of a few strict marks.

Many of these runners competed at a high level in the NCAA and struggle to maintain that level of competition when that structure falls away—well before realizing their potential.

These runners train at an elite level around the demands of their busy schedules. With the right support system, many possess the potential to break into the top tier of distance running; often the Olympic Trials, or national championships. The limited resources in distance running mean that these runners are left to their own devices if they want to continue to chase the dream. To address this, we want to give back and provide support where we can.

We offer structured training and a long term commitment to the athlete’s goals. Along with a typical run-training plan, we create individualized strength training protocols, fueling strategy, and a growing library of curated resources on mental performance, strength & conditioning, and mobility.

Emily Royston
NEW YORK, NY
Emily is a Butler Cross Country and Track alum, where she specialized in the 10k. After graduating from Butler, Emily moved to NYC where she is currently studying to be a foot and ankle surgeon at New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Emily will be racing the Baltimore marathon and NYC marathon this fall under After Hours Athletics and has dreams to OTQ one day!
Willem Landis
WAshington, DC
Willem is a graduate student studying international security at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service while working part-time. Prior to graduate studies, he competed in the NCAA for five-years at George Mason University and the University of Minnesota. He primarily focuses on distances 3000m - 10000m. Outside of studies and athletics he enjoys hiking, kayaking, and iced americanos
Jaret Carpenter
PORTLAND, OR
Jaret is a Purdue University alum where 
he was an All American in both Cross Country and the Track outdoor 5k. Jaret recently qualified for the 2024 Olympic Marathon trials with a debut time of 2:16:39. In his free time, Jaret enjoys anything and everything to do with music, with dreams of infiltrating the indie rock scene.

What inspired After Hours Athletics?

After Hours Athletics was inspired by runners who are consistent in their pursuits on top of busy lives and busy schedules. No matter their time across the finish line, they find joy in the process and meaning in the work.

What got you into coaching?

The impact of a great coach has been clear to me since my beginnings in running. I grew up looking up to amazing track and cross country coaches who shaped who I am today. This grew my love for teaching and helping others realize their potential and purpose. My athletic and academic experience with endurance sports has also led me to enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others to help them chase their own dreams.
